Senator Dino Melaye, Murtala Nyako, 13 others senators of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki announced the defection of the lawmakers.
Up till now, the deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremmadu is still under house arrest and absent from the plenary.
They defectors cited that APC was being fictionalised, therefore, they might not continue to pursue their political careers under the ruling party.
Nevertheless, the Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawal opposed the defection, saying the action of the affected lawmakers should be quarantined while the letter written by the defected lawmakers should be stood down.
The defected lawmakers are Senators Dino Melaye, Barnabas Gemade, Murtala Nyako, Ibrahim Danbaba , Shitu , Nafada, Monsuat, Isah Misau, Suleiman Hunkuyi and others.
In the meantime, many others senators of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) are being anticipated to announce their defections.
